I currently live in Northern, Virginia where I teach 5th grade in the public schools, as well as private piano lessons. I also formed and direct a community musical theater group in the area. We returned from living in the Middle East 3 years ago where my husband worked as a military attaché at the American embassies. All totaled, we spent 2 years in North Africa, 7 years in Amman, Jordan, (which was our favorite), 5 years in Tel Aviv (where we attended church each week in Jerusalem. As we toured and explored, around the country I had so many wonderful memories from our semester abroad come back to me. Israel has changed dramatically since we were there, but there are many things that seem very much the same – falafel sandwiches among them! As I was speaking in sacrament one Sunday, Lamar Barrett, who was visiting, came up after the meeting and asked if it was I. It was such fun to spend some time and reminisce with him in Jerusalem. Rich and I have raised 4 daughters and a son. Two are married and have given us 4 grandchildren - playing with them is our favorite pastime. Two daughters work here in the D.C. area and our son is in his first year at BYU and plans a mission this summer. I am so grateful for the marvelous opportunities and experiences I have had over the past 35 years since our semester abroad! My motto for life continues to be…”Attitude is everything”!
